Grant Application Guidelines

Applications for 2009/2010 are available by September 15, 2009 for the October 15, 2009 deadline.

Please note our Chatham Cultural Council Guidelines below:

Note: Successful applicants must agree to have their event or program attended by a Chatham Cultural Council representative and any participants photographed for the local papers.

Amount Available for Granting This Year: $14,000

Funding Priorities:

In addition to the traditional grants that we have given prior to 2009, we are receptive to applications for larger eligible grants. Local cultural enrichment for town of Chatham is our first priority. We encourage partnerships with other towns as long as Chatham residents benefit. Also please keep in mind that we do not fund the same project more than three times.

Our annual Community Grant Writing and Guidelines Workshop sponsored by the Chatham Cultural Council will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2009 from 10:30-12:30 in the Forgeron Room of the Eldredge Public Library.

Its purpose is to inform the public about the partnership between the State Massachusetts Cultural Council and solicit ideas for funding. Most of the program is focused to assist organizations, individual artists, and educators in preparing applications. To see a selection of our past successful grant applications click here.

Local Chatham Cultural Council Guidelines:

For the grant applications due October 15, applicants are asked to provide one original plus the number of review copies needed for the Council members (currently 15). This change will expedite the Council’s review process and save the time and cost of duplicating some 30-odd applications. Applications aimed to local schools must provide evidence that the applicant or applicant organization has contacted the school or teachers and provide name of this contact and letter of support.  In addition, events to be given to benefit the community of Chatham must include planning strategy for a specific venue. Whenever possible, activities funded by local cultural councils should be available to the general public by exhibit, performance, demonstration, reading, or other means. Individual applicants must show that a public benefit results from the project for which they are applying. Although LCC funds cannot be used to support activities that benefit only the individual applicant, a public presentation of an individual's work may provide the needed public benefit.
